Relationships -Made by God

God created man in his own image so that He could have communion or fellowship with us. Therefore we can relate to other human being in different relationships. God did not create us to be alone. (Gen 2:18 – I will make you a helper.)

God instituted the bond of marriage between a man and woman. Reproduction is God’s plan and purpose for humanity.

Just like our earthly family, we are part of God’s family. Our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus share a special eternal bond with us.

God has blessed us with a family to love and care. God is himself our Heavenly Father.

God’s time- Wait for it!

He has made everything beautiful in it’s time. (Eccl 3:11)

Our gracious God knows our past, present and future. We can rest in His loving care knowing that he is with us at all times. He has planned out each day for us according to His will. Our Heavenly Father knows what is best for us. He provides us all our needs abundantly. And most importantly He gives us His grace to wait upon Him.

The nation of Israel waited 400 years to be free from slavery!

The fall of Babylon came 66 years after the prophet Habakkuk prophesied!

Though we may have to linger, God’s appointed time is unknown. But we know that He keeps His word. (Ps 40:1-3)

Those who hope in the Lord will not be disappointed. (Isa 49:23)

Set your eyes on the Lord and not on the circumstances. And keep the faith!

New beginning

But God remembered Noah……
Genesis 8:1 NIV

After a hundred and fifty days God had not forgotten Noah and his family. The whole world had been wiped out but God saved Noah and his family because they remained faithful to God.

Even before the flood Noah is described as a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time and that he walked with God (Gen 6:9) just like his great grandfather Enoch.

Gen 8:11 The dove brought back a “freshly” plucked olive leaf! Fresh meaning ‘new’!!

Gen 8:13 By the “first day of the first month” signifies a new beginning, a new chapter in the history of mankind.

Just like Noah, we have been given a new life through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are a new creation, born again in the newness of Christ.

Read 2 Corinthians 5:17, John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:3

2 Peter 3:13 reminds us of a blessed hope. Our future is secure!

Remember to thank God for his love and compassion which are new every morning! (Lam 3: 22-23)

Were it not for grace

Good morning everyone.

Can’t help but share this beautiful song of praise on this Lord’s day. Hope it reminds us all of God’s wonderful grace towards us. There are various artists who have sung this song but my favorite is by Larnelle Harris.

Were it not for grace

1. Time measured out my days
Life carried me along
In my soul I yearned to follow God
But knew Id never be so strong
I looked hard at this world
To learn how heaven could be gained
Just to end where I began
Where human effort is all in vain

Were it not for grace
I can tell you where Id be
Wandering down some pointless road to nowhere
With my salvation up to me
I know how that would go
The battles I would face
Forever running but losing this race
Were it not for grace

2. So here is all my praise
Expressed with all my heart
Offered to the Friend who took my place
And ran a course I could not start
And when He saw in full
Just how much His would cost
He still went the final mile between me and heaven
So I would not be lost

Forever running but losing this race
Were it not for grace

Have a blessed day!

Pray for humility

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:10 NIV

We don’t know ourselves as God knows us and even others know us. We often tell ourselves that we don’t sin like others. That we are basically good. Sometimes our repentance is full of pride. We deny God so many times. Our hearts are deceitful.

We may deceive others but we can’t deceive God who searches our heart. (Rom 8:27) God knows what wrongs we will do in future. We may fall away but He will not. He has accepted us as we are. Wicked, guilty, defiled, sinful and fraile. He comforts us and has completely forgiven us.

The greatest saint can fall into the greatest sin if he is not held up by God’s grace. Praying for humility has to be constant in our lives.

Let’s be humble to God and to others. Have a humble day!

My daily prayer

Teach me Lord to serve others,
help me to be humble.
Use me as your instrument,
Guide my heart in your ways.

Even though I may fall sometimes,
Your grace will carry me through.
I want to finish this race Lord.
Take my hand, lead me till the end.

May my life be to you,
A sweet smelling fragrance.
That those who don’t know you yet,
Will see your love through me.

Cleanse me, chip away the unwanted.
Make me more like you everyday.
Then when I see you face to face,
You will embrace me as your child.

In season and out of season

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
2 Timothy 4:2 NIV

Back in India it’s time for the monsoon rains. But it’s a harsh summer here in the Arabian Gulf. Temperatures rising to more than 50°C. Going outdoors is not encouraged unless necessary. Without air conditioning we wouldn’t last a day!

Yet we go about our daily lives, trusting God to take care of us. Just like the air conditioning we need God’s Word to sustain our soul.

Today’s verse encourages us to be prepared at all times. Be prepared to correct, rebuke and encourage. But we need to do it patiently and carefully.

Sharing God’s word is every Christian’s duty. But it does not necessarily mean speaking out loud or even penning down your thoughts. Your daily life and walk is more important and speaks volumes about your faith.

May Christ be seen in our lives everyday as we wait for that glorious day of his return.

Have a blessed Sunday!

The Lord’s delight!

“The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” Psalm 147:11

What joy it is to know that God our creator loves us and brought us into existence to have a sweet fellowship with Him. (1Cor 1:9) All of creation proves that we cannot rely on our own strength and feeble minds but only in the infinite and awesome wisdom of God. Even the psalmist understood that those whose hope is in God’s unfailing love are the delight of the Lord.

We are the “apple of his eye” (Zech 2:8)

The sheep of his pasture (Ezek 34:31)

The phrase “unfailing love” in Hebrew denotes befriending. God’s unfailing love, kindness and mercy has been revealed to us in our Lord Jesus Christ. Our love for God may grow or diminish depending on the circumstances. But his love for us is unchanging and eternal.

This verse reminds us that:

  1. Only those who fear the Lord can know and understand Him. (Prov 9:10)
  2. Only those who know God can put their hope and trust in Him. (Ps 33:18, Ps 125:11)
  3. Only those who trust in God have tasted His love. (Ps 20:7)

Let’s ask God to show us how to love each other in the same manner in which he loves us – without any conditions, just as we are.

Have a joyful day!
