Christ shaped light

But if we walk in the light as He is the light we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

1 John 1:7

The word of God commands us to walk in the light. We live in a dark sinful world and so we can choose either of two lifestyles – one characterized by wickedness and the other by holiness and truth. There is no compromise. The word walk in this verse is a metaphor for living. When we are in Christ we have fellowship with Him – that means to be in living spiritual union with God! Jesus’ blood has cleansed us from all sin – past present and future. This does not mean that we take advantage of God’s grace and sin on purpose. A true believer will always choose light over darkness knowing that Jesus, the light of the world, conquered darkness i.e. sin on the cross of Calvary. He has called us to be his light. Let us be like Him bringing joy and love and peace to all around.

What will you choose?

Genesis 13:1-18

Will you choose like Lot who looked up and saw the well watered plains of the Jordan? Or will you wait on the Lord with your head bowed down until you hear Him say “lift up your eyes” like He did to his friend Abraham?

Would you choose for yourself like Lot or would you let God choose for you like Abraham?
Would you pitch your tent near Sodom, so near that you eventually end up there or would you live where God wants you to, away from the world and its snares?
Would you look selfishly like Lot and covet or would you look as God commanded and be blessed?
Would you choose what is right in God’s sight or choose what pleases your heart?
Would you choose eternity with Him or eternity apart from Him?
